Remember Charles, a visual and digital artist from San Antonio, Texas, values art primarily as a means of human connection, drawing inspiration from the support of his family rather than the influence of old masters. After a period focused on fulfilling the creative demands of others, he returned to painting as a commitment to his own vision, moving away from the draining work of commissions. His art invites viewers to reflect and engage with their own perspectives. Through his work, Charles aims to inspire others to create, just as his family's encouragement empowered him to embrace his creative path.

Interview with Remember Charles
If you had to describe your art journey so far, how would you summarize it?
“A Series of Interesting Events” will be the best way I can say how the journey has been. From my personal experiences, since entering the realm of fine arts, I found how decision making and timing was important. Some folks might not say it but I will. Imagine 3 doors, the door on the right has the contracts, galleries, museums, etc., just like music labels. The door on the left is more partying, sex, drugs and blackmail. What folks would consider cult-like is forsure real. Then there’s this cool door in the middle which is independence. Meaning both sides not harming or helping just watching how far you can go. How far you’ll know how much you are worth. Door in the middle is slow and long yet detailed and beautiful in every moment. You will not only appreciate the days built, but gain wisdom to throw the rope down to the next person that’s just like you. So far in 2 years my life has been a upward spiral. I chose the door in the middle going into this business to change the algorithm and lead more folks into what I’m experiencing.”
What do you think makes you and or your style unique?
I would say this is an interesting question only because I never 3rd person’d myself or talked to half of the world to know if I’m unique or not. I can say the most interesting people are always drawn into my life like a movie or story in a book like. Most folks rich or poor seem to always be interested in talking with me and I accept it and love it. Idk most of time I meet a lot of reflections of me if that makes sense? It’s almost as if we all experienced some of the same things just in different locations on the planet at different ages. I guess I have a strong ability to understand everyone outside of my own experiences. What makes my style unique ? People vibrate to my images like great food they never had. I cook up my work with a different level of energy and timing, it leaves my work with a frequency that attracts folks. I rock with it cause a lot of todays art is almost like fast food or 5star vibes when seen. Kinda get the same flow of art in spaces and the taste just goes away after a while. I make what I want and feel and just it being seen, someone may like it or not but it’s seen and it exists and someone wants it. Very cool and unique to me.
Your art often features blurred and distorted figures. What is the significance of this style in conveying your perspective, and how does it invite viewers to engage with the artwork?
Mmm yea, I guess thru a single prospective it could be seen that way. I got that a lot yet, I would call it more transparent. See through like. The more you experience in your environment, people, food, music, etc. These things are like colors to give the transparent image it’s look. I use the colors to symbolize what’s being absorbed to shape the image. Just as a persons environment, drugs, family, friends can have a color to shape who we are and what will be in one’s own experience so it’s still room, extra space, blurred or distorted unfinished areas. I leave enough spaces to give the viewer the ability to imagine again. Fill in the blanks. Ask questions you know.
If you could share one message with aspiring artists who struggle to find their voice amidst external pressures, what would it be?
Keep on Moving. Try and Fail and do it again. Gain Experience points in real life and not the game. Stop watching social media and tv. I made a cool formula from my experiences the last two years and it helped me understand everything I needed to know.
IDEA + WORD + VISION(Intention) + Action(trial and error)
= endless creations (prototypes)
IDEA + WORD + VISION(doubt)
= Procrastination/Cancellation/Reassurance +[Action(trial and error) = endless creations (prototypes)]
If any folk want to reach out I’m best at throwing the rope down as much as possible.
What exciting endeavors lie ahead for you? What can our community anticipate from your future ventures, and how can they support you?Living where I work, it's all intertwined.
I have a few showings coming up this year out the US so I’m pretty excited about that. I’ve done a few casting calls for film and nobody knew which will be fun so see how that turns out, or if it even does ya know? lol. Idk, I live every day not expecting nothing that’s not set in stone and enjoy what the universe blesses me with. Expect more endless creation to remember. I will always create more potions for more motion.
If anyone wants to support me just share me to Familia and Friends, Dogs and Cats! Working my way to be everyone’s favorite living artist and that’s the best way to help through conversation.
